Dodge Ram Themed Holiday Gifts

It's no secret that pick up truck lovers really love their trucks.  Dodge Ram owners are no exception.  The Ram brand is strong and inspires a lot of loyalty.  It's no surprise then that there's even Ram themed blog, Ramzone.com.

Ramzone recently published a list of gifts for the Dodge Ram enthusiast in your life.  Here are their suggestions:

Ram Laramie Longhorn: The interior of this truck is already gift-wrapped in custom leather. On the one hand, the Longhorn is designed for luxury; on the other hand, if you give it early, you can use it to haul the Christmas tree home.

New BBQ Grill: Let’s face it, Ram Trucks were made to tailgate, and every good football celebration needs a grill. Throw in a bag of ice to help fill the RamBox® with cold beverages.

Mopar® Accessories: In case your Ram Truck driver likes to customize their ride with accessories, you can’t beat Mopar.com.

Mossy Oak® Gear: For the hunter in your life, there’s no better way to deck them out than in Mossy Oak® camo. Heck, buy them a Ram Outdoorsman Mossy Oak® Edition; they deserve it.

Ram Toy Trucks: You’re never too young to love Ram Trucks, and you’re never too old to play with the Road Rippers® Come-Back Racers™ – Ram Power Wagon. Available at toy stores for a suggested retail value of $19.99.

So Long, Ram Dakota

Dodge Officially Retires Long Standing Pick Up Line

A 25 year legacy has come to an end.  The final Dodge Ram Dakota ever made is leaving Chrysler's Truck Plant in Warren, MI today.

Rolled out in 1986, the Ram Dakota was one of the first smaller pick ups made in America.  It was for those who needed capacity but also didn't want a larger truck.

Ram brand CEO Fred Diaz has said a new vehicle to replace the Dakota in the Ram lineup is being considered but no decisions have yet been made.

A major reason for ending production was to focus in on the Ram Full size.

Overall, the small pick up market is on the decline as the GM Colorado as well as the Ford Ranger will be retired within 1-2 years.  Fortunately, Chrysler told the Detroit Free Press this will not come at the cost of any jobs.

We, for one, enjoyed the Dakota and are sad to see it go.  Share a Dakota story with us if you have one!

Ram Unveils a Concept Truck You’ll Need a Garage Extension For

RAM’S LONG-HAULER OFFERS EXTRA COMFORT AND SPACE FOR LONG TRIPS

Well, you certainly wouldn’t have an easy time fitting it in your garage. The Car and Driver blog reports that Chrysler’s Ram brand Long-Hauler is only 24 feet long, with a 197.4 inch wheelbase – that’s long enough that most vehicles on the road would fit between its wheels.

But, there’s no need to worry about where to park this beast yet because it’s only a concept truck. Still, it’s an interesting ride to think about.

According to the Car and Driver blog, Chrysler sees its new prototype as a “dream vehicle for hauling, range, and comfort.” Based on a Class 5 Ram 5500 chassis cab, this truck has a huge passenger compartment, an 8-foot box, and an auxiliary fuel tank. There’s also an option to add a third tank, to bring your fuel capacity up to a total of 170 gallons! Once full, you’d be carrying more than 1,000 pounds of fuel, on top of the 9,300 pounds of truck.

Not to be forgotten, the truck offers a luxurious interior, with leather seats, power foot rests for rear passengers, and a refrigerator and set of tray tables that sit between the two rear seats. Passengers enjoy 115-volt and 12-volt power outlets and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well.

While Ram has said that the Long-Hauler is just a concept for now, if it were to be available on the market, it sure wouldn’t be cheap. It would have to be priced over $40,000. Not to mention the fact that at current diesel prices, it would cost more than $700 to fill! However, Autoblog.com points out that the 170 gallons of fuel will keep you going for about 1,600 miles before you need to refill.

Ram will be touring the beast about the country in the coming months to measure consumer interest, and we can only wait and see if enough people are excited by this huge truck to get it on the market.

For Small Business Owners On-The-Go

Dodge Ram Cargo Van Caters To Movers and Shakers

If your daily routine revolves hauling things around but you don't want a big brute of a truck, the Dodge Ram Cargo Van (C/V) was invented with you in mind.

"The highly versatile Ram Cargo Van is a great vehicle choice for small businesses and commercial fleets,” said Dodge President and CEO Fred Diaz.

Dodge has more than 25 years experience of van engineering, so the C/V should be right

The foundation of the Ram C/V is its commercial-tuned ride and heavy-duty load-leveling suspension that is designed to offer maximum hauling capability. What this means for you is that it won’t look like a low-rider when you pack it full of goods.  The suspension has been retuned for heavy-duty loads and maximum hauling capability. The van can tow 3,600 pounds.

Most pivotal to the 2012 Ram Cargo Van is the use and flexibility of the interior. Opened for 144.4 cubic feet of storage or workroom, the rear flooring is tough enough to support 1,800 pounds of cargo thanks to the use structural aluminum.

Chrysler’s Media Center 130 CD player/MP3 stereo system and 6 airbags surround the modern looking two-set cabin. Optional productivity items including Uconnect Phone and Uconnect Web make the Ram Cargo Van a more ideal business companion.

Being in an automotive segment where vehicles would commonly be sold in large orders, the Dodge Ram C/V is perfect for a full company fleet.  So swing on by West Herr Dodge today and see what we've got!

2010 Motor Trend Truck of the Year: Dodge Ram Heavy Duty

Despite the effects of the Great Recession on personal-use truck sales, there is still demand for
pickups ready to do hard work. The heavy-duty truck market has gotten smaller, but the guys
who buy those pickups are fiercely loyal to the segment-they need the extreme capability these
hard-working haulers provide. Some may wonder why anyone would own a truck that can tow
nearly 20,000 pounds, but for a lot of people in construction, those who transport vehicles or
goods, and those with ranches, this is just a part of everyday life.
Within the next few months, the heavy-duty category will heat up, as all three manufacturers
have all-new offerings coming. The Ram Heavy Duty is the first to market, and it's already ahead
of the game. When Ford and GM's all-new heavy-dutys come out, both new diesel engines are
going to require urea injection to meet emissions requirements that take effect January 2010. The
Ram Heavy Duty's Cummins inline-six turbo diesel, which puts out an impressive 350
horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, met those requirements -- without urea -- over a year
ago.
2010 Dodge RamInstead, the Ram 2500 and 3500 use a NOx adsorber with precious metals that convert the NOx
into inert gases. Not only does this mean the Ram's emissions and exhaust systems are less
complex than those in the upcoming Ford Super Duty and Silverado/Sierra HD (which could
improve reliability and help keep maintenance costs down), it also means that, at the dealership,
the Ram will very likely have a price advantage over its competitors. And while in this size
category diesel is king, there are plenty of heavy-duty truck buyers who prefer gas power. The
5.7-liter Hemi, the Ram's base engine, has the most horsepower (383) and torque (400 poundfeet)
of any V-8 in its class -- and only the Ford Super Duty's V-10 has more torque than the
Hemi, but it still has less horsepower.
