Mercedes and the Dashboard Tablet
Friday, September 16, 2011 at 3:57PM Mercedes Unveils Tablet Ready Concept Car
So we've seen in car streaming music, phone apps and predicting cars. Mercedes-Benz has just introduced a new caveat that tech fans will love- a dash mounted tablet.
The automaker recently unveiled their A-Class concept and the dash mounted tablet was directly to the right of the steering wheel. Imagine having your iPad, Xoom, or other tablet with you while you drive. GPS, Music, anything else at your own will.
Of course, the biggest issue is to be safe with it.
Mashable found some pictures and the car's interior is simply stunning. The sleek design is complimented by knobs and displays backlit in red. It looks futuristic, but it's right here right now. Mashable's quote summed it up quite well:
"The design looks like a cross between a hungry shark and an angry bird, and angular cuts that vaguely suggest shiny muscles."
Nicely put.
At the moment, "concept car" implies there will be changes once the car hits mass production. Given the buzz already, its doubtful Mercedes will lose the dash mounted tablet. Yet another step forward for in car technology.
