Jimmy Galligan was a leader, mentor, coach and teacher to his family, friends, co-workers and the community. To this day, he is remembered for his knowledge, wit, wisdom, infectious smile and especially his love of children.
In 2000, at the young age of 48, Jimmy lost his valiant battle with cancer. Recently, his family and friends honored what would have been his 60th birthday with a benefit to support pediatric research and pediatric support programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The benefit raised more than $23,000 for Carly's Club, the fundraising arm for Roswell's Pediactric care.
"The turnout and effort was truly amazing," said West Herr's Annette Smith, "everyone involved did an excellent job."
The benefit took place November 5th but Jimmy's siblings met last week with Dr. Martin Brecher at Roswell to present the check, as can be seen in the picture above.
Jimmy was a member of the West Herr family for 25 years.
