Cash for Clunkers a Huge Success, thanks Buffalo

Checking paperwork, to make sure our customers get their money.West Herr would like to thank the WNY community for making the Cash for Clunkers program (CARS) a huge success. In fact we were so busy that we put together "TEAM CLUNKER" to relieve the paperwork pressure in the stores, so they could concentrate on helping customers.

During the final days of the program the team worked throughout the weekend and night to help every customer get their paperwork in on time. Even our President Scott Bieler and our Vice President Bill Loecherwere there helping the team get every deal loaded into the CARS.GOV site.

The West Herr dealerships were so busy that many stores stayed open extra hours each day. "We were able to help customers take advantage of a once in a lifetime event and for many get their first new car." said one of our sales managers, on the showroom floor.

Our conference room converted into “Clunker Central.” Sunday morning, the team loading paperworkThanks to the American People's concern for the Auto Dealers, we were able to sell over 700,000 new cars nationally as a result of the program.

The average mileage on the clunkers was approximately 120,000 miles and the average gas mileage was 14mpg. Time will tell, but we think the gas mileage savings will be substantial. With our customers we saw average MPG savings of more than 10MPG, which has to be a good thing for the environment and their budgets.
